Medicare is a federal government funded program for the people of the USA with well structured eligibility criteria to help the seniors and special people to meet their Medical costs during their later part of their life.
There are four parts of the Medicare for various Medical covers which include:
You are eligible for the part A of the Medicare in case you are above the age of 65 and eligible to receive the social security retirement benefits or else the railway retirement benefits or else have been employed/ a spouse of someone employed for the past 10 years in a job that covers for the Medicare from the tax pay rolls.
For those below the age of 65, you are eligible for Medicare if:
1 you need to be a Medicare covered employee for a period of ten years or else a beneficiary of the railroad benefits to be covered by Medicare while having kidney issues
2 Sometimes the spouse/ child / parent of the Medicare covered employee may receive the benefits indirectly
Those who are covered under the hospital insurance may apply for the Medical insurance covered under the part B of the Medicare.
Even though you are not covered for the part A of the Medicare, you still can apply for the Medicare in one of the following cases if you are above the age of 65 and if:
If you have both parts A and B, you can apply for this. The advantage plans are provided by the private insurers approved by the Medicare. It is a plan that provides better coverage than the original Medicare and may sometimes cover for the drugs in the name of MA-PD.
You cannot take this in case you are covered by Medigap insurance.
If you have both parts A and B of the Medicare, you are eligible for this plan. Part D covers for the prescription drugs with various plans at different prices. If you are covered for drugs in any other form, either part D or the other plan gets cancelled.
